This holiday season, Equal Rights Beyond Borders is launching The Gift of Reunion, a campaign highlighting the systemic obstacles that prevent refugee families from reuniting.
Despite the fundamental right to family unity, countless families remain separated—blocked by restrictive policies, procedural delays, and political inaction.
For this, we created a website: wiedersehen-schenken.de
At Equal Rights, we are committed to challenging these injustices. We constantly work to provide people on the move with the legal support they need to overcome these barriers, holding states accountable for violations of human rights and ensuring that families are not forgotten in the face of bureaucracy.
Our advent calendar: full of stories & information
As part of this campaign, we are introducing a digital advent calendar. Each day, we will reveal real stories of people who were reunited with their family members around Europe through the support of Equal Rights, different challenges people on the move face in the fight for family reunification, and stories of our colleagues at the frontline. This calendar serves as a platform for raising awareness, amplifying the voices of those directly impacted, and inviting collective action.
How You Can Support The Gift of Reunion
- Donate: Your contributions directly support our work providing legal aid to people on the move.
- Spread the Word: Help raise awareness by sharing this campaign and spreading its message.
- Stay Informed: Follow the advent calendar for daily updates and actions you can take to support separated families.
This campaign is about more than just raising funds. It is a call for solidarity and a reminder that the separation of families is not an inevitability—it is the result of choices made by policymakers and systems designed to exclude. Together, we can challenge these structures and create pathways for families to reunite and rebuild their lives.
Visit wiedersehen-schenken.de to explore the advent calendar and join us in advocating for justice, accountability, and human rights this holiday season.
Equal Rights Beyond Borders wishes you a season of reflection, action, and solidarity.
